Listings Junkie sets one cookie, and only when you sign in. There are no advertising cookies, no analytics cookies and no third-party trackers, which is also why you will never see a cookie banner here. This policy explains the one cookie we do set, the browser storage we do and do not use, the outside services that appear on a few pages, and how to control everything from your browser. It goes together with our Privacy Policy.
1. What Cookies Are
A cookie is a small text file a website stores in your browser. It lets the site remember you between pages, for example to keep you signed in. Cookies come in a few kinds:
Listings Junkie sets a single first-party cookie and no third-party cookies of its own.
2. The Cookie We Set
One cookie, and only when you sign in. If you never sign in, Listings Junkie sets nothing at all. Browsing the directory, reading the blog, writing a review, reporting a listing and sending a form all work without a single cookie.
The cookie holds a random identifier that points to your session on our server. It does not contain your name, email or anything else readable, and scripts on the page cannot read it. Signing out deletes it immediately, and it expires on its own after 30 days.
3. Cookies We Do Not Set
Most sites set far more than they need. We do not. Specifically, Listings Junkie does not use:
- Advertising cookies, or any cookie that builds a profile of what you look at
- Analytics cookies: page views are counted on our server as daily totals, which needs no cookie and identifies nobody
- Social media buttons or embedded widgets that report your visit to another company
- Cross-site tracking of any kind, including retargeting pixels
- A cookie consent banner, because there is nothing optional to consent to
If that ever changes, this policy changes first, with the name of the provider and a way to opt out.
4. Local Storage & Similar Technologies
Browsers also offer local storage, session storage and similar ways for a site to keep data on your device. Listings Junkie does not use any of them. Nothing is written to your device apart from the sign-in cookie described above and the ordinary files your browser caches to load pages faster, which you can clear at any time.
5. Third-Party Services on the Page
A few pages load something from another company. None of them is a tracker, but each is covered by that company's own privacy policy:
- Google Fonts serves the typefaces from Google's servers. Your browser requests the font files, which involves your IP address; Google states it does not set cookies for this.
- Cloudflare Turnstile is the small check on the contact, review, sign-in and guest post forms that keeps bots out without making you solve a puzzle. It runs in a frame from Cloudflare, looks at browser signals and your IP address, and may keep a short-lived token on your device to remember that you passed.
- Cloudflare hosts the site. During an attack it may set a short-lived security cookie to tell a browser from a bot; it carries nothing about you.
- Stripe handles payment if you buy a marketing service. That happens on Stripe's own checkout page, which sets its own cookies under Stripe's policy; our pages do not load Stripe scripts.
Listing pages also link out to business websites and social profiles. Once you follow a link, that site's cookies and policies apply, not ours.
6. How to Control Cookies
Every browser lets you see, block and delete cookies. The settings live here:
Blocking or deleting the sign-in cookie signs you out, and you will be asked to sign in again on your next visit. Everything public on the site keeps working. You can also sign out from your account page, which removes the cookie on the spot.
7. Do Not Track & Global Privacy Control
Some browsers send a "Do Not Track" or Global Privacy Control signal. Because Listings Junkie does not track visitors or sell personal information, there is nothing for the signal to switch off: every visitor is treated as if it were on.
8. Changes to This Policy
We update this policy when the cookies or services we use change, and update the date at the top. A material change, such as adding analytics, is announced on the site before it takes effect.
